Our hearts are filled with love and gratitude for these 3 wonderful days we were allowed to spend at the Buddhist Monastery Samye Ling in Scotland. Everything was just so amazing and I am not sure how to put those special moments into words.
I still hear the wind chime from outside the Retreat Centre, greeting us every morning on our way to the temple. It might only be a 10min walk down the road but this walk did hold something magical. Overlooking the vast landscape of the Scottish hills and with it the beauty we are allowed to immerse ourselves in. Trees, flowers, forests, rivers, and only the sounds of nature to accompany us.
~ GRATITUDE ~

Since I am here, slowly dropping into the slower pace of time and space I realized that my soul has been longing for this for a long time. We are so caught up in our modern living world that we forget what it feels like to walk in silence or in an open space with no cars or other people to disturb us. A true sense of belonging and returning home overcame me, on my walk to the temple for 6 am Tara Meditation. The sky is still dark and I can see the moon and the stars. I know the others feel the same, we are awed by the magic we are allowed to share at this wonderful place.
Samye Ling is a monastery and international center of Buddhist training, known for the authenticity of its teachings and tradition. It offers instruction in Buddhist philosophy and meditation within the Karma Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. It is also a center for the preservation of Tibetan religion, culture, medicine, art, architecture, and handicrafts. Furthermore, it is a meeting point for spiritual seekers and people who are looking for some time to get away from it all.

Luckily enough we were able to secure our own Yoga & Healing Retreat venue at the Purelands Retreat Centre which is linked to Samye Ling. A lovely place, tugged away up on a small hill overlooking the surrounding areas, providing a safe space to learn, explore, and dive into the arts of Yoga and Healing.
The real magic happens in the Shrine Room upstairs which is equipped with underfloor heating allowing us to lay and sit on the floor for a better experience. It is true, these 3 days have just been out of this world and will continue to echo deep into our beings. A few days away from everything, allowed us to focus on our self-care and our own needs. Bringing us back in touch with the rhythm of our body, mind, and spirit.
I still somehow feel floating above the ground – touched by the experiences we were able to share with the other participants. All of them embraced the Retreat with open hearts and hands and allowed us to guide them closer towards themselves.

We had daily Yoga practices tailored around everyone’s needs and abilities, even people who had never done Yoga before found their way and loved it. Judit Barrass from Wild River Yoga is a very experienced Yoga Teacher with a lot of knowledge and intuition. Judit guided us from Hatha Yoga in the morning to Yoga Nidra and Yin Yoga in the evenings helping us to wind down and relax.
While Mehal Mahipal (Julie) offered the Retreat participants power practices of shamanic healing and astrology. Together we dived deep into the three worlds and learned a lot about healing old pain and embracing who we truly are. An astroshamanic trance dance allowed us to reconnect with our energy and experience the power of all of the 12-star signs. There were great dancers, laughs, and a few tears and all of these experiences shifted our energies.
There were also opportunities to receive spiritual healing with Anamchara Healing (Ross) and receive support, love, guidance, and healing energies from other realms in a 1-2-1 Session.

Most of the accommodations were single rooms with shared showers and toilets and some of the rooms were twin rooms with great views over the hills.
The community room is a lovely warm and cosy kitchen space to sit down, connect, and have a lovely cup of tea and biscuits. In Buddhism, it’s not so much about luxury but about being grateful for what we have and sharing it with others. We had plenty of opportunities to get to know each other and real friendships were built.
Our main meals of breakfast, lunch, and dinner were served by the monks, nuns, and volunteers of Samye Ling next to the main temple. Delicious, homemade, organic, vegetarian food waited for us daily and we experienced the love and compassion those people have for others. Most of the ingredients come right out of the Buddhist Monarchy gardens and are prepared fresh every day.
To come here is to come into a community that has learned to practice the art of patience, peace, and compassion. Everyone is welcome here and allowed to wander in the grounds, and the gardens and visit the temple. If you are really like you might come across Buddhist Teachers or Lamas from Tibet and be able to experience their teachings in the temple too.
Our Retreats are designed for anyone who is looking to relax, slow down, and meet like-minded people. A combination of healthy foods, open hearts, and true knowledge is something we love to share with everyone who travels with us. Community and coming together are so important these days, and even more so is important to take some time for yourself and reconnect to this inner voice of yours.
